Pair of 16g shotguns by James MacNaughton & Son. 28" Steel barrels. 14 5/8" Straight Hand Stock. 2 1/2" chambers. I haven't seen anything quite like these before, I suspect they will be unique. Built circa 1910, they are slab sided Round Actions, engraved with a mixture of Zoomorphic and Celtic strap work. Built in 1897, Sumner engraved with fine scroll and Celtic style strap work, fleur-de-lis engraving on ball of action. Cocking indicators, pistol grip stocks, number 1 gun has been re-stocked both guns have had some poor barrel repairs over the years however they are beautiful guns with the elusive 30" barrels. He had been a Midshipman in HMS REVENGE at the Battle of Jutland in 1916 and was the Commanding Officer of HMS Campbell who led the 'channel dash' against the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau in WWII
